The Last Entry - Saying Goodbye

The Last Entry - Saying Goodbye

The Autumn Tea Green Guild is taking a hiatus. The primary players: Alliance Guild Leader Tiphaine, Mahakeya (Keya), Sistaphilia (Sista), Javajoo (Java), and Chaitee are taking a well deserved break. There is no specific return scheduled. These characters are loved and will always remain a part of the thirteen years the Warcraft family has fought, loved, and been reborn with every expansion.

This is the last entry of the Warcraft Wild Family Adventures Blog. It will remain open, but I don't expect to publish any new entries for the foreseeable future.

For my persistent followers, thank you for all of the words of wisdom, for the times I was lost and one or all of you got me going in the right direction, and who encouraged me when things went sideways.

What Comes Next - For me, this is less of an ending and more of a beginning. For a long time writing about my Warcraft characters was enough for me. It satisfied my very persistent need to write. I was able to add my own imaginings to create a world of characters and events that exceeded the game itself.

It's time for me to step up. I am going to write the story that I have half finished more than a few times. It's called "The Spark of Dischord." Warcraft would be a major distraction. So it has to go.

I am re-opening a blog called "The Jaded Walker." It is a mess right now, but I'm working on that. I hope you check it out. Or at least poke your head in now and then.

Stormwind Revival "Of Sorts"

Stormwind Revival "Of Sorts"

Java, Chaitee, and Tiphaine spent time in Stormwind this week.

So Chaitee turned in her AH badge to Java, who is now capably handling that role. Tiphaine, however, is a little worried that the Auction House is not producing the level of gold they have become accustomed to. Some new bidders are pushing down prices at levels that are making Java very nervous.

Sista is doing everything she can. She has cleaned out Naxramas and spent an hour farming the Maw of Madness in the Twilight Highlands (and spending a potion of treasure finding to increase the take). Tiphaine wondered if even more could be done. Sista wanted a say in that, but Tiphaine calmed her down. For now Sista is doing all she can.

Tiphaine decided to try out another idea. What if someone other than Sista did a clear of the Bastion of Twilight? Sista can only run it once a week and has already made this week's run. She thought about who to send out on that second mission. Shrugging, she decided to make the run herself. Not being a tailor, she knew there would be fewer cloth to gather, but she was hopeful there would be some value in the run.

She used the same method Sista uses - resetting the raid after doing just the first part. That allowed her to run the first part of the raid ten times, and only on the tenth run do a full run. Tiphaine was a bit awkward and rusty, but she had nothing to fear. The mobs went down easily. As she worked, she could tell that far fewer cloth was being dropped than what Sista collected. In an average run she would amass around 800-1000 cloth. Without a tailor, she drew only 140 cloth from the entire ten runs of the raid. That is far too low for the time spent.

And, as she was not an enchanter, either, she couldn't disenchant the grear that dropped. She could only send the gear that wasn't soulbound to Sista to disenchant. Overall, a disappointment, but at least she learned some things.

Tiphaine remains worried. Java has earned 43k gold since she took over, now sitting on 660k. In past weeks past she took in 2-3 times that much. in the same period. The world of Silvermoon is an old world. Buyers and sellers are fewer. Prices fall when goods go unsold. The Autumn Tea Green Guild has a deep reserve of gold in the bank, but there could come a time when even that source may have to be tapped.

Repairing the Damage

Repairing the Damage

The weekly Tuesday maintenance is usually finished in time for Java to go right to work, despite the warnings that the game will not be playable until 1pm, or 3pm, or whatever, it doesn't seem to matter. Today is different. The left coast will supposedly be down until 1pm today. And it is currently down.

Chaitee hopes she has something to do with messing up their maintenance. Not likely, but fun to wish for. Last night Java was able to put most of her business back in order. When the maintenance is over Java should be able to go back to work. Things are still a mess, and there are some AH issues to address, but basic buying and selling was up and running late last night.

As for Chaitee's plight, the jury is still out. Broken addons need some loving care. Sista and Keya are still out of action.

Took a look at Patch 7.3.2 which should be what we'll see when the maintenance is done. Maybe. Anyway it doesn't look like anything major. The biggest thing seems to be tuning for the new raid, Antorus, the Burning Throne, although it's not yet available with this patch. World PvP is getting some major tweaks - that seems to be the major change. Otherwise boring.

Some Demon Hunter Love

Some Demon Hunter Love

Note: This blog post was completed earlier but not posted due to the Deadly Crash.

Keya was in Mardum and got a whisper from a gal who just loved Keya's mount, the Felbroken Shrieker. She asked where I got it, and I told her it was a demon hunter class mount. Then she asked how she could get it. Keya is very proud of her mount so I didn't mind the questions. I got a sense that there was more than just curiosity, so I asked her if she was also a demon hunter. Yep, she is also a demon hunter.

I knew what she was about to get herself into, should she go after getting that mount. She also had the same response that I had when I first learned what it would take to earn that mount. I asked her if she had earned Legion Flying yet. The answer was no, and she had no intention of going through that process. I then told her it was even worse than that. She had to have completed Pathfinder Part 2, and she would have to complete a number of dungeons.

She then dismissed the idea, just as I once did. Why go to all that trouble when something fancier will turn up in the next patch? But I will still have my mount, no matter what I reminded her.

I then added that there was only one other mount that I could never part with, and that was the original, druid only "Raven Lord" mount. Which later begat the "Reins of the Dread  Raven" and then to the "Dread Raven" that most folks remember. Interesting fact: The original Raven Lord can't fly! It is ground mount only.

The Felbroken Shrieker will be one of the great mounts, in my view. I don't know when or if non demon hunters will be allowed to have one. But for now, it is unique and special. It is so special the beast cannot fit through the door at many of the pubs in Dalaran. Seriously. Keya thinks that is gut busting funny. In fact, one of Keya's best tricks to stand on the threshold of an establishment and watch others stare in awe of her beast. Shriek isn't very patient and will strike at those trying to enter and will even thrust it's head into the room.

Terms of Engagement - Chaitee went against the suggestions of Icy Veins and took a path that shortened the cooldown of her Harpoon. Killing with a Harpoon now automatically resets the cooldown to zero. It's an improvement, but Keya may have to talk to a Game Master to figure out why Keya can't right-click attack a hostile target. [Note - this issue is still not resolved]

Shooting Blanks - Java got her first real chance to defend the Auction House Saturday night. First, she forgot to turn PvP on so all her attempts to engage went nowhere. The attacks came again a couple of minutes later from the same prior attack and this time Java was ready. She struck with Avenger's Shield. Three seconds later Java was dead. Ouch. Then again, the Horde Pvpers were good, and there weren't many alliance fighting back. Wildshard poked fun at the Alliance ineptitude, sneering that nothing had changed in all the years the two factions had been fighting each other.

Oh, and one final thing - Chaitee is now Level 110! [Again, this was completed before the crash]

Not a good Day Part 2

Not a good Day Part 2

Here is the second response to my Ticket. I returned home from running chores and learned that my account had been taken over by Specialist Game Master Iiihlyn. I am just recounting what was said  because I wasn't there when the tech took over. He/she was the usual bright and happy bringer of bad news. He/she had reset the user interface while saying "I do hope everything wasn't too hard to set back up!" In other words, I was on my own as far as getting my account set back up, which now includes getting a new password.

After gettng that wonderful news, he/she offered some thought about what might be causing the original problem I had - which of course is now a massive problem instead of a minor irritation. Frankly, I doubt any of the suggestions will do any good but I will dutifully check them out - assuming I ever get my account back.

Funny thing - I can't even complain or put in another ticket until i get all these other things straightened out again. Now they have to use plain email to contact me now - if they bother.

Deadly Crash

Deadly Crash

I made the deadly mistake of taking directions from a Blizzard tech while trying to fix the RT-click to attack problem that Chaitee has.

I'll save everyone the details. The outcome is that not only is the Chaitee problem not fixed, Blizzard managed to F things up to the point I started getting error messages and the game crashed.

To make things even more "fun" the damage has now bled over into the other characters. I'm looking at many many hours of rebuilding each and every active character. Or worse.

If I bother. Right now I'm frustrated enough to think about just setting the game aside for a few days or weeks. Or at all. Maybe I've been playing this game too long.

Stubborn Chaitee

Stubborn Chaitee

Chaitee's Survival spec is a powerful spec that she really likes. However, there is a "feature" that has Chaitee scratching her head.

Start with a simple attack. Say that Sista wants to attack a hostile target that is in range. Sista would simply right click the hostile and Sista would automatically run to the target and attack it. This works with Sista and with the rest of the family.

Except for Chaitee. When Chaitee right clicks a hostile target, she takes a few steps and then stops well short of her target. Her pet stays in place as well. If her pet is not out, Chaitee will not move at all when right clicking the target. The hostiles targeted are all in range.

Of course Chaitee can use her Harpoon, which causes Chaitee to leap to the target and attack. All well and good. But Harpoon has a cooldown and often Chaitee wants to immediately run to another target - which she can't do. It's frustrating. If harpoon is not up Chaitee has to target a spot "near" the target instead. When there are multiple targets that are trying to kill you that can get really complicated and possibly fatal.

It didn't help when Chaitee saw a review of the hunter survival spec and ranked it the worst spec not only of the hunter class, but of ANY class or spec.

Did that dissuade Chaitee? Is she going to switch to another spec? No. Chaitee is stubbornly sticking to her Survival spec and it's melee mechanics. She just wishes she could figure out how to run to a target and attack. Something is wrong.

Tasting Death

Chaitee pushed a little too hard into her leveling and found herself and her pet dead on a number of occasions. Shel Zuul, a Legion elite that patrols the Pinerock Basin was particularly nasty and she didn't have anyone helping her. Still, she managed to raise her gear score to i768 and made it to Level 109!

And yes, she has left Java behind. Does Chaitee still have a little bit of love for the Auction House? Only if Java is handing over gear. Chaitee is very happy to have Java handling the gold. Java is content with the job. At least for now.

Oh, and one more thing  . . .  as of Sunday afternoon Chaitee is Level 110!

Pounding the Leveling Path

Pounding the Leveling Path
This and That

Chaitee plowed into Val'sharah on this crisp Sunday morning and quickly worked through the throng of nasties in the Lunarwing Shallows. She bounced into combat and came out as a Level 104 with a gear score of i722. She quickly pushed onward, already on the march for the next goal. She is currently 10% of the way to level 105.

She took on Black Rock Hold - the leveling version, not the dungeon. Upon her return to the Lodge Chaitee noted that she was 74% toward level 105.

Java is still struggling, but she has maintained a positive outlook. While her auction house is providing some gold, she might as well give up on bags, Chaitee's staple. It appears that at least two sellers have decided to sell silkweave satchels at 500g apiece, and have flooded the market with them. Which means that embersilk bags are worthless and there is no profit for the silkweave, either, not at 500g. The backlash has effected frostweave as well. Not a single sale in two days.

Java is making do selling enchants, leather barding, stormscale, stonehide leather, leyblood and other small market items, but it's really small potatoes . . .  hmmm, potatoes, anyone? Java can get you a deal. Speaking of deals, Java discovered the value of fatty bear steak, selling 200 for 1,800 gold! The steaks are pretty good, too, when cooked rare.

Chaitee returned to Stormwind as a Level 105. Says hi to Java and tries to buy some gear. She found only one piece, an i735 to replace an i725. Well, at least she gave Java some business.

Java, meanwhile, made a small inroad on the silkweave front, managing to push the price of silkweave bags off of the 500g level and raised it to 691g. The war of bag prices are far from over, though.

Chaitee came back later and found two more pieces of gear to replace, raising her gear score to i741,  and pushing her leveling to the new height of Level 106, battling flowers at the Garden of the Moon. Java didn't seem to mind Chaitee's coming and goings.

However, rumor has it that bets are being taken on whether who, Chaitee or Java, reaches level 108 first. Java has shown no visible concern that she might be left behind in Chaitee's wake, but then Chaitee is not even at level 107. . .  yet, although she is 46% of the way there. As for gear score, Java is i754.

Chaitee Has the Reins

Chaitee Has the Reins

Chaitee put herself in the hands of the Trueshot Lodge. Having switched spec from Beast Mastery to Survival, her relic/traits needed some very minor tweaking (she has almost no AP). Using her Scouting Map, she decided to start her official leveling in Stormheim. At first glance that seemed a terrible decision, given the many changes of elevation in those difficult mountain passes. But thanks to Keya learning Legion Flying, Chaitee could fly wherever she wanted.

She was sailing long with her leveling when she encountered a strange failure in one her most potent spells, called Flanking Strike. The ability refused to work, which was very bad for Chaitee because she happened to be in the middle of the battle with the elite dragon and the waves of bats (yea, I know you remember it, right?). Without that key spell, Chaitee died.

Well . . . .  as one would expect, it was Chaitee's fault. Flanking Strike requires the assistance of her pet, Tazzy. Poor Taz was dead at the time. Without Taz, no spell. Chaitee rectified that quickly and her day - and Taz's - got markedly better.

The clock is still ticking but Chaitee is currently Level 103 (woo hoo!) and 88% of the way to level 104. Things are going so well because Chaitee is bolstered by Halloween candy. Sugar high!!

Java got off to a very rocky start at the Auction House, losing over 3,000 gold. Determined to learn the ropes, she waded into the tangle that had been made by silly buyers and sellers that didn't know what they were doing. [Note from Tiphaine. It is not good business to disparage your customers. Just saying.]

Prices for bags had flipped flopped so fast that Silkweave satchels cost way less that embersilk bags. The foolish seller is either crazy or personally farmed every piece of cloth - it's the only way a profit could be made, and even that would be minor. Java started manipulating bag prices, using Chaitee's method of raising prices on the lower cost bags (frostweave bags). She caught a break when a seller set pricing too low on embersilk bags and Java jumped on them. She then raised that price by 100 gold - and it stuck. By the following morning Java had turned her 3,000 gold loss into a 5,900 gold gain. What was most impressive is that Java made use of a lot of mats that had only small marginal gains, but were in large quantities, which bolstered the overall take.

Eyes are glazing over. Java and Chaitee went off together to talk shop.

The Last Word from Chaitee - I'm Free!

The Last Word from Chaitee - I'm Free!

As much as she liked Beast Mastery, it was the Survival spec that Chaitee was the most interested in. She talked to the experts at the Trueshot Lodge. Convinced that she was doing the right thing, she threw caution to the wind, changed her spec, and switched out her spells. Chaitee was ready. The process was relatively easy and she soon found herself on a flight to Spirit Watch Point in Highmountain.

Something was amiss when she arrived. She was there to kill Degar Bloodtotem, but he did not seem to be home. In fact, the entire area was hostile, but there were no signs of a quest. Chaitee was puzzled. An enemy came within range so Chaitee killed it. No, actually, it didn't die. Huh? Most of her spells were frozen, ie, greyed out, not working. Chaitee literally had to beat it to death.

It took a moment for Chaitee to figure out this conundrum. Is it her weapon? Sort of. Chaitee realized she had no weapon. She was on the quest to get the Survival spec weapon, but she didn't have it yet. And what do you know, she didn't bring one. Oops. Now here is one for the books. Chaitee, former guru of the Auction House, had to fly back to Dalaran, port to Stormwind, and BUY a two-hander. From Java. Java was laughing so hard she dropped her shield on her foot.

Feeling very foolish, Chaitee grabbed a two-hander off the AH rack, paid for it, and beat feet back to Spirit Watch Point. From there things proceeded as expected. Chaitee's poor weapon was cheap, but good enough to kill Degar Bloodtotem, win her way through the artifact scenario, and battle the monster cat. Chaitee now has a true blade, the polearm Talonclaw.

Chaitee already loves Survival. Best of all, she gets to keep Taz for her combat pet. Tenacity/tank, of course. Chaitee is 64% of the way to level 103. And counting.

Java made fun of Chaitee's misadventures, but Java has her own disaster - her coffers are still bleeding, losing 3,000 gold from her start up amount of 517k gold.

Chaitee Loses Her Job (Part Two)

Chaitee Loses Her Job (Part Two)

Chaitee got her boost because she claimed that the Auction House needed to be protected from marauding Horde. She didn't realize the complications that would arise from trying to level in order to have that protection, and running the Auction House. The two tasks often interfered.

She loves the time spent with Taz and Hati out in the open spaces of Highmountain. She is thrilled to find a second home at the True Shot Lodge and all that it offers her. Having her pets Taz and Stretch within arms length is also a benefit, which is why she stuck with Beast Mastery.

But she is reconsidering that decision. First, she has to ask herself if Beast Mastery is even the right spec for the job. After all, the job requires almost full time, on the spot monitoring to catch incoming Horde, including fights mostly at melee range within the confines of the Auction House. Chaitee had to admit that if her real role is protection of the AH, a better spec would likely be Survival.

In the back of her mind, Chaitee was thinking through again what Sista had told her. As Survival, she would be armed and armored in mail gear with a potent melee weapon that would include a combat pet for either tenacity (tank) or ferocity (DPS). Chaitee would be able to pick and choose which pet spec to take. At least that is what she envisions. Again, Sista's words came to her. Does she really want to level at the same time she is running the AH?

Sista again came to rescue. "What we need is a backup for Chaitee." That got Java and Rakta stirred up. Rakta went into hiding. But Java? Well, she and Tiphaine immediately went into a huddle between them.

Java is a plate wearing level 107 paladin. She'd make a pretty good guard for the AH, and has stayed current with her combat skills. Java added her own two coins to the conversation, noting that she already has three hexweave bags and the 26 slot Addie's Satchel. There would be no need to spend gold for personal bags.

Java's  main hurdle has nothing to do with her competence. Java is a flagrant clothes horse. Every bag in her bank is packed full of clothes. But that's the point. The clothes are in her bank, not filling her travel bags, and she has almost a hundred open slots to hold goods. This could be a win-win for all:

(1) Chaitee can focus on her leveling.

(2) Java, who would love to get some action, agrees to take over the Auction House, even if it means living in Stormwind.

Tiphaine showed a rare smile. For once her girls were working together. All but Rakta. That's for another time. For now, there is unity. Tiphaine had a parting incentive for Java. She will start her new job with 500,000 gold. Chaitee had amassed a million gold during her period at the AH. Tiphaine expects Java to seek that goal as well.

PS - It will take time to get used to not seeing the name "Chaitee" plastered all over the Auction House. Instead, AH players are going to be wondering who this "Javajoo" person is.

Chaitee Loses Her Job (Part One)

Chaitee Loses Her Job (Part One)

Keya has her class mount now, and the family can try to get back into a more regular routine. Chaitee is back in the hot seat. Sales are down, profits have slipped, prices keep falling, and buyers aren't buying. For the first time in several months Chaitee has no backlog of goods - a backlog is when there are more than 50 goods already paid for sitting in the mailbox. Current as of Monday morning, there are only 43 items in the mailbox.

Chaitee has taken the severe step of holding back goods because prices have fallen below the cost to make them. The overstocked, under priced goods are being bought up and there is nothing Chaitee can do but wait it out. Her position NOT to buy up the bargain basement items has proved good strategy as there seems to be no bottom to how low prices will go. Bag prices have dropped to the point that materials are worth more than the bags.

Chaitee's personal leveling has been uneven. She is keeping up with her missions. She has only two followers so far and hasn't really needed a combat ally yet. Then again, she hasn't done much leveling for herself. Chaitee is 46% of the way to level 103.

She likes beast mastery, but she's struggled when she faces foes who get past her ranged attacks. Chaitee looks longingly at Keya's powerful defensive gear and wonders if she should consider changing her spec. She's considering Survival, where she can defend herself with ranged traps and a melee artifact weapon in close quarters. Her mail armor helps, as well. She got even more interested when she learned the Survival spec includes a pet. Maybe Tazzy can still be a working pet. Not sure.

Chaitee's main challenge for leveling is that she hasn't been able to work on it consistently. That's resulted in broken quest strings and missed opportunities. Sista faced that situation when she began leveling at the same time the guild was pushing her to get her professions lined up. Unfortunately, as a result, Sista may never be fully functional.

Chaitee spent some time talking with Sista. Sista has resigned herself to the role of collecting mats and making bags. She gets to travel, mostly on her way through Stormwind, including stopovers at Wyrmrest Temple in Northrend for Naxxramas work, and  the Twilight Highlands where she hunts Bastion of Twilight prey. Sista is content, if not happy. She advised Chaitee to make up her mind - take the Auction House gig and be satisfied with that, or seriously working on her leveling. Trying to do both at the same time is what got Sista messed up.

It was a lot for Chaitee to think about. She had to remind herself that only a short time ago she was a content level 32 Auction House hound, although she admittedly had aspirations for a larger role. Those aspirations came true with the Boost.

Chaitee has a lot to consider.

Slayer's Felbroken Shrieker

Slayer's Felbroken Shrieker

To Fel and Back

Wow. Despite all of the dead ends and mistakes, Keya has finally gotten her class mount. And it was well worth it. Her new mount is AWESOME! Keya already has a nickname - Shriek. Okay, not very original, but Shriek likes it. Other names considered were Bug, Wasp, Stinger, Nasty, Menace, etc.

The actual capture and subduing of the shrieker was exciting. Given Keya's penchant for getting lost, she did lose the trail a couple of times while chasing it down. Keya persevered, though, made it behave, and gave it the "you are mine" stare right out of "The Dragon Riders of Pern." Look it up.

Keya's mount Baby pictures! Everyone say Awwwww.

Give a Little Smile

In the below Shriek stars lovingly into Keya's eyes while Keya opens her arms.

Shriek stars lovingly into Keya's eyes while Keya opens her arms

Just a sample of the uniting of Keya and Shriek. The details of the quest chain may get it's own blog post.

Race to the Finish

Race to the Finish

It is late, but Keya is still up, jacked by the progress she has made late into the evening.
Adding to the day's accomplishments, she added the following:

Step 10: Self-Fulfilling Prophecy  (NEW quest complete, 8 world quests, DONE)
Step 11: Intolerable Infestation (slay 50 demons, DONE)
Step 12: Relieved of their Valuables (3 wyrmtongue caches, DONE)
Step 13:  Take Out The Head (kill three rare elites). Killed the elite fish Aquex right away for her first elite kill. Killed Flllurlokkr. Killed Xorogun Flamecarver (first encounter for Keya, the elite's main weapon was wind). DONE.

It is now morning. No, keya did not stay up all night. She wants to be fresh and ready to finish this thing.

Step 14: Championing Our Cause (complete a mission from the order hall with a Broken Shores destination . .  . preferably with a connection to Legionfall). This morning Keya opened the mission "Hard Target." The mission takes place at the Broken Shore and will take 16 hours to complete. Keya believes that she doesn't have to wait for the mission to complete. She went to Khadgar and he allowed her to move on to the next step.

Step 15: Strike Them Down: Slay 100 demons on the Broken Shore. The spiders at the Grotto were easy to slaughter. DONE.

Keya is beginning to feel . . .  well, anxious. Things are going very well, but the real event is getting closer. She fears another failure. Or another unforeseen roadblock.

Mother Malevolence calls for Keya to return to the Mardum. She quickly reports in.

Mother Malevolence asks if Keya is ready.
"Damn straight I am," she replies with a rush of adrenaline.
Satisfied, Mother Malevolence hands Keya the quest, "To Fel and Back." It has finally come to pass.

Keya is on her way to earn her class mount.

Adding To The Cause

Adding To The Cause
Things Can Change Quickly

Keya has fallen upon a video that may help her put more of the pieces she needs to get her class flying mount. The you-tube video begins at Delivery Point in the Broken Isles.

(1) Malev Shadowsong is there to complete the quest "Strike Them Down."
(2) Upon completion the player gains the achievement "Breaching the Tomb."
(3) The next quest is "Livin on the Edge"
(4) Mother Matron Malevolence then offers a quest
(5) That opens the "To Fel and Back" quest

Issue: It appears that all the requirements of "Breaching The Tomb" must be completed before the above quest will appear. The problem is that Keya can't figure out how to complete the eight requirements. There are no open quests for any of them.

Another tact - Keya is now using a guide to walk through the Breaching the Tomb quests. For once this guide seems to know each step and how to get to them. Steps 1-7 Keya had already completed, although she didn't know that at the time.

Step 1 and 2: Armies of Legionfall/Assault of the Broken Shore (completed)
Step 3 and 4: Aagen Point/Veangence Point (completed)
Step 5: Begin Construction. (completed)
Step 6: Defend Broken Isles (completed)
Step 7: Champions of Legionfall (completed)

Step 8: Shard Times (NEW quest completed) - This is where Keya started completing additional pieces of Tomb all by herself.

Step 9: Mark of the Sentinax (NEW Quest completed)
Step 10: Self-Fulfilling Prophecy  (complete 8 world quests) - 7/8 done

Keya did an exhausted run of several hours, hoping to earn one more Broken Shores world quests. She killed elites by the handful and even wacked Aquex, the floater that hangs out by the sunken ships. Got some goodies, but no world quests completed. She may end up waiting until the next day. Brutallus is up and is definitely a world boss, but he is needs a full scale raid to bring him down. No one wanted to try it.

At this stage of progress Keya is literally humming with excitement. Sure, there are still six more pieces to finish the puzzle. But everything looks good so far. Things will again get interesting when "Breaching the Tomb" finishes.

But it's not over, and there may still be roadblocks not yet encountered.

Frustration and Blind Alleys

Frustration and Blind Alleys

Keya is losing hope. It's clear she is getting nowhere despite how many missions are run from the Mardum. It doesn't matter how many billions of artifact power is produced if it doesn't get her closer to her class mount.  In fact, her goal seems further and further away.

Keya chases shadows, hopes, and fantasies. "To Fel and Back" has become a taunt instead of a goal. She'll never get there. There is no direction to follow.
Her latest mantra was to complete "A Classy Outfit," which then followed "A Glorious Campaign." She finished the achievements, but nothing came of it, and there it died.

Trying to find further help, she stumbled into "Breaching the Tomb" an even larger set of tasks tied to the Legionfall campaign. Is that campaign tied to her class mount? Just how many campaigns are there, anyway? Campaigns everywhere - Legionfall, Campaign, Class, water bucket brigade, etc etc.

She tries to be positive. For instance, the "Tomb" campaign has 15 tasks but seven are complete (somehow). That still leaves eight NOT completed. Will "Tomb" do it for her? Who knows.

It's easy to get discouraged. The two parts Keya attempted for Tomb, she completed successfully. But as usual, she got no credit for doing them. Mark of the Sentinax sent Keya to kill three elites. Those elites took a horrendously long time to die, all three of which Keya soloed (not all at once, of course).  Not to mention getting shot at from the Sentinax itself. No quests were involved. Keya simply taunted the Sentinax to rain fire (which it did) and she still hunted the elites down and killed them. Which is probably why she got no credit. No quest.

Where are the clues she needs to open the quests she needs? Of course "To Fel and Back" is the true starting point to earn her class mount, but where is the thread of quests that gets her to that point? It must be somewhere in the 79 parts laid out for the Demon Hunter Campaign quests. There isn't much point in randomly doing dungeon and raid quests, most of which will have nothing to do with the class mount pursuit.

Keya can't find it. What more does she have to do? Why are there no quests?
She has the title. I AM THE SLAYER! Yet again . . . Where does she go from here?

A Classy Outfit (Finally)

A Classy Outfit (Finally)

With the outstanding assistance of Almond and Rockhammer, Keya finally completed the achievement, "A Classy Outfit," earning the Breeches of the Shattered Abyss by completing the Maw of Souls dungeon. The run was a lot of fun, and of course successful. The Halloween costumes were a nice touch and had Keya in stitches (literally)!

Maw of Souls Victory!
Rockhammer Rocks!

Almond Keeps Us Alive!
Proving Keya Did It!
Now it's back to the grind on the Class Hall effort. Keya had hopes that this achievement would open up Keya's class mount, but apparently there is more work to be done. Keya is now pinning her hopes that the snarl is with the class hall missions. Keya has 6/6 followers, three of which have completed their leveling. The other three still need to finish: Alari the Soul Eater, Belath Dawnblade, and Lady S' theno.

On more mundane issues, Keya puttered around with the Netherlight Crucible again but, in her opinion, she should be spending her AP on getting from AP 65 to 69, which is the next tier. The ever expanding cost of AP is now at 20.5 billion for one upgrade. In regard to her three relics, two are at Level 2 (of 3). Perhaps the next AP expenditure should be to get the third relic to level 2. The dang process is very confusing, with no good idea in what order things should be upgraded. It's all a great mystery that costs Keya immense amounts of AP (Artifact Power). She has "only" 12 billion at present.

Don't forget about Chaitee! While she must keep up with her Auction House duties, she's played hooky a number of times, excited for the action and getting her pets some well deserved activity.

Stable Master "Pan The Kind Hand"

Chaitee was all over Stormwind trying to find a stable master. Given her rookie status and being green behind the ears, she had a hard time figuring out why the two stable masters she tried to contact were no longer practicing.

The "Aha!" came when she realized that she's not in Draenor anymore. This is Legion, and things are different. Chaitee knew where she should have gone at the beginning - The True Shot Lodge in Highmountain. She immediately flew out there. Chaitee found the stable master, Pan The Kind Hand (yes, that's his name), soon after she arrived. She was very pleased and excited to see that her other pet, Stretch, has been taken good care of all this time. Stretch and Taz are the only pets she has trained, something Chaitee will want to add to in time.

Chaitee also learned that there was a special flight master for hunters. He's on the opposite side of Krasus Landing in Dalaran. Only hunters can use it via a short flight and then an instant portal directly to the True Shot Lodge. Very cool. Keya was curious and walked over there, but the spot was vacant. Apparently, he only appears to hunters.

Chaitee may want to work a little harder on her leveling. If the Auction House continues it's free falling prices there might not be a market left. Example: A week ago stormscale was selling at 17 gold each. It's selling for 4 gold now.

Chaitee's entourage continues to grow. First it was just her and Taz. Then she picked up Hati. And now she's added her combat ally. She is an army of four now, 40% of the way to level 102.

Chaitee Comes of Age

Chaitee Comes of Age

In between Auction House work, Chaitee has been sneaking in some leveling trying to get to level 101. She keeps trying to pull Keya stunts, and frankly, she doesn't have the gear, and makes rookie mistakes. She's already died four times, even when sacrificing her combat pet and her gaurdian pet, Hati. Chaitee is far too reckless. On another quest, she managed to drown inside the sunken ship near Shackles Den. Aszuna is the least dangerous place in the Broken Shores, and Chaitee is likely to die many more times.

Chaitee is 71% toward level 101. Java, who had similar issues when she was leveling, had some advice for Chaitee. Java got a lot of leveling done because she chose two easy to level professions, Mining and Herbalism. By coincidence, Chaitee also has those professions. Even better, she has never bothered to do anything with them (2/75 with herbs and 21/75 with mining). She needs another 30% to reach Level 101, and those two professions just might do the trick without getting herself killed too often. It will also give Chaitee a chance to take some time and see her new world.

Chaitee, for once, took Java's advice. She and her pets settled at the Illidari Stand and then took to the skies of Azsuna. Her flower and rock picking was a bit awkward at first.  Chaitee kept standing too close and pulling nearby mobs. Chaitee earned a fews hisses from her pet, Taz, before she figured out the proper distance. She started to get the hang of things and the mistakes grew fewer and the leveling went faster. They got into a solid routine of set up, send in the pets, Chaitee blasting with her gun at range, and watching things die.

In a much shorter time than she would have figured, Chaitee reached Level 101. She has no expectations of leveling further unless things get pretty slow on the combat front. She will work with the Hunter's Lodge on a few things when she has time. Mostly, she needs to be at the Auction House. Prices have fallen precipitously over the past two to three weeks and the flow of gold is tight. Chaitee needs to get back to her real job.

In other news. Keya is determined to go after the Maw of Souls again, despite the issues that cut her first attempt short. She still has only seven of eight pieces of gear to complete the Class Hall Campaign quest "A Classy Outfit." She still needs the leggings, and the only option left to her is the Maw of Souls.

Keya's friend Almond  is a raider and healer. She has offered to run Maw of Souls with Keya to get the achievement if time, circumstance, and schedules allow. Keya has stopped worrying about it. She knows it will come sooner or later.

Maw of Souls

Maw of Souls

So Keya is getting a thick skin regarding her failure after failure in what are supposed to be easy dungeon runs. Last night she let the Group Finder pick between Maw of Souls and Black Rook Hold. They are the only two dungeons Keya can get her achievement from. The random choice was Maw of Souls. Keya hasn't been to that dungeon yet, but she did watch some videos.

Shortly into the Maw of Souls encounter the dungeon run unraveled. It started fine. We did the Horn scenario thing and reached the ship. We killed Ymiron. It was messy but no one died. Keya was dealing most of the DPS and didn't need much healing.

We then lost a player and there were only four of us. There was some standing around and a short conversation. See below:
---------------------------------------
sherra-ysonda falls asleep zzzzzzzz
Keya asks "Can we do this with 4?"
Instance Leader: "yea"
You have been removed from the group.
-------------------------------------------
It must be a Keya thing. She didn't even get to see Helya or Harberon. Put Keya in a dungeon and strange things WILL happen. Just for fun, here are the stats on the group from Recount.

Keya Kicking Butt

Healing Done

Hard to read the healing chart. It shows the healer, Sherra, doing 34% and Keya doing 28.7%. Most of Keya's healing was on herself, of course.

Mangling Yet Another Dungeon

Mangling Yet Another Dungeon

Sigh. Loramas Thalipedes (LT for short) is the gentleman that handles the class hall armor set on the Fel Hammer. Keya is working on the achievement, "A Classy Outfit." It is a critical element toward finishing her class hall armor set.
Keya has seven of the eight pieces of gear that she needs. The last piece is the leggings. To get them, Keya has to kill the last boss in eight different dungeons.

It looked to Keya that she only had to do one more dungeon, having plowed through the others while still questing and trying to get her Pathfinder stuff done. When she tried to collect the achievement, however, she was still short those leggings. She was sure she must have gotten them along the way, and figured she must have accidentally destroyed them. So she checked in on the Fel Hammer and asked the quartermaster for a replacement, which cost 500 gold. That didn't work, either. The leggings were locked and could not be purchased.

Keya would be getting mad about this time, but so much has happened she couldn't really muster up the outrage. Maybe there was a bug. Keya had read something about this achievement being buggy. It took a day and half for a Blizzard fellow to follow up on the ticket Keya had sent. He was very polite and checked on Keya's status concerning the achievement.

Sigh. The game master had the answer almost immediately. "I took a look and you are still one "final dungeon boss kill" away from completing the achievement. Keya sighed again. She has been sighing a lot recently. The bosses all have to be unique, so which ones haven't I done, Keya asked herself. The game master heard her mumbling and answered. "You have two dungeons left you can take, Black Rook Hold and Maw of Souls.

Keya tossed a coin, headed for the Group Finder, and selected Black Rook Hold (BRH).
Sigh. Keya knows where it is and has quested all around it. Now she must enter the dungeon, kill four bosses plus the final boss, Latosius.

The good news is that Keya managed to help kill all four bosses and managed to get lost only one time. There is a lot of going up and down stairs, and one set of stairs has large boulders rolling down them. She got pounded and lost a lot of time finding her way back to the group, which of course kept charging forward. Keya finally caught up with the group and managed to get in a few blows before everything died.

Keya's mind was still on being lost, and making sure that she killed that last boss, and about the achievement . . .  A player whispered Keya, asking if she could have it. Hmm? One of the players in the group had opened trade. Keya's gear is so far advanced compared to others in the group Keya had stopped bothering to look for goodies in these dungeons. So she let the trade go through. Yes. You know what comes next. Sigh. Keya gave her leggings away. Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
If there is a way to screw up a dungeon, Keya will find it and make messes with it. Despite all that, Keya led the DPS, doing 34% of all damage.

Keya is pretty sure the game master will tell Keya she can still get her achievement. Do the Maw of Souls. It's really her only choice at this point. There are only three bosses (Ymiron, Harbaron, and Helya) and the map seems to show that the dungeon is outside. Keya is sure she'll find a way to ruin this run, too, but give her some kudos for not giving up. She will be off to Maw of Souls as soon as the kiddies wake up,come home from school, and dial up their computer.

PS - It's pretty funny when Keya thinks about it, the whole dungeon thing. Refusing to ever set foot in one at first, and now plowing them down with hardly a second look, yet still finding ways to goon them up and having to make multiple efforts. Sigh.

Chaitee Boost Success!

Chaitee Boost Success!

Below are all details, but the picture really tells the story. Chaitee raises her Titanstrike weapon. She is with her pet Tazzy, and Chaitee's new companion, the wolf Hati.

Chaitee completed her Boost and went through the various scenarios required. There was only Chaitee and one other player doing the same scenarios. Chaitee even enjoyed the training sessions that patiently taught her how to use her level 100 gear and weapons. She hates her helmet, but right now she is just trying to absorb the awesome Jump.

Something has gone wrong, though. The entire city is empty of players. Chaitee has the Auction House to herself. Her guild bank is gone. There is only a blank wall where it used to be. She stills shows as member of the Autumn Tea Green guild and listed as a veteran.

Demons Among Us - Yes, Chaitee had to fight her way through demons. Once she completed that part she went into a scenario that got her set up in Dalaran. Her guild bank is accessible to Chaitee again. She is now going to see if she can set up shop in Stormwind City - or will it still be a ghost town? The answer? Chaitee is home. Stormwind is it's normal, dirty, and blood letting self. Tazzy is off somewhere hiding. Once Chaitee gets her stuff together she's sure Tazzy will again emerge.

Speaking of Tazzy, he has come around, although Prowl still persists. Sigh. But Chaitee has more important tasks at hand. First, she needs to see what gear she has for both combat use and everyday use. Somewhere in those piles of goods their must be something she can wear!
After an hour of looking through her clothing Chaitee came to the conclusion that none - NONE - of the gear she brought through the boost can be fitted. She figures that at level 100, she remains under the Draenor rules. Getting to level 101 might open things up.

HOWEVER, before she embarks on THAT challenge, she has to get the AH in order. First. Period . . .  that job took the better part of an hour. Everything is back where it's suppossed to be and Chaitee is back in the business earning gold.

As for a wardrobe, Chaitee will, of course, keep her combat gear. She discovered she likes the feel of mail armor against her skin. The helmet sucks, though. She can hardly see through it. She found her way to The Hunter's Reach in Dalaran. After talking with Emmaral Shadewarden, Chaitee agreed to pursue a weapon of great power - Titanstrike.
Tiphaine pulled Chaitee aside for some advice. "Go after your weapon, Chaitee, there is nothing more important, not even the Auction House." That surprised her. Chaitee saw the worry on her face, though.
"I will not forget my duties at the Auction House," Chaitee swore to her. Then Chaitee grinned. "And of course I will continue to pour gold into the guild coffers. There's lots of stuff I want from the bank, too!"

Hours later . . .  Chaitee had some fun, spent way too much time in Ulduar, and - oh yea - earned her Tirtanstrike weapon! As a bonus, she also acquired a guardian - the wolf Hati. Tazzy is a little jealous. After more adventures Chaitee joined the Trushot Lodge where her weapon will be cared for at the Alter of the Eternal Hunt. This is where she goes to earn weapon upgrades. Chaitee started her journey with a gear level of i640. She left the Lodge at i660.

Chaitee thought about taking a rest, but she still had to check on the Auction House. Getting to Stormwind and back is going to be a pain, though. More strangeness to fix. Chaitee's boost lost her her Exalted status in the guild. She is now only at Honored.
If she remembers, Chaitee will display her comabt wardrobe and her Auction House wardrobe.

Chaitee Boost Process: Skidding off the Rails?

Chaitee Boost Process: Skidding off the Rails?

Chaitee finally made the time to begin the Level 100 Boost process. Before she even got started, however, she nearly panicked with worry when she called her loyal pet, Tazzy, and he didn't show up. Chaitee tried everything she could think of, using her whistle (Call Pet), dismiss and recall, checking for the need to feed, and even the revive call. She felt kicked in the gut when she saw the words "you do not have a pet." The commands worked, but Tazzy did not appear. Tazzy may be a pixilated cat, but there's hell to pay if Chaitee has lost Tazzy, the Missus' pride and joy, modeled after a now long gone family pet who stills speaks to her across the Rainbow Bridge.

Chaitee tried to quell her concerns, and talked herself into believing there is simply an error caused by having remained static from Cataclysm, to Draenor, and now Legion without catching up with all the changes.

She checked her Specialization. Yes, she is designated as Beast Mastery. However, the Activate button was greyed out. So it could be something to do with Specializations and Talents. She checked her guide and made changes. Her two usable talents are "Way of the Cobra" and "Stomp." Her Beast Mastery Specialization Activated. She didn't see it, lost in her misery.

Chaitee bit her lip, head lowered.
"Purrrrr."
Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrr."
Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Chaitee raised her head. "Tazzy!" She screamed in delight, but she couldn't see him.
"Where are you?" She spun around, looking frantically about. She then felt warm fur pushing at her thigh.
Chaitee reached down and grabbed thick fur. "You're almost invisible! But you are here!" Chaitee sank down to the cobblestones of the Trade District, ignoring the stares of passersbye and showered her mighty cat with hugs and kisses.

Chaitee is much relieved to have her pet back, even though he is still stuck in Prowl mode. Someone suggested that taking Tazzy out on a kill would clear the prowl mode. It didn't. No matter. The Boost will likely clear it, and if it doesn't Chaitee will deal with it. Everyone she talked to says there are no troubles with the boost. All her pets, gear, goods and bags are safe. So she is told.

One thing to add, though. Chaitee's pre-boost grab bag of "useful" gear is a lot less useful than she thought. The boost will grant her a set of i640 gear. She also collected 18 pieces of i780 gear to get her through the level 101-110 crunch. But of the 18 pieces, 13 of them were level 110. Not likely she'll still need the i780s by the time she hits 110. However, she does have five pre-110 pieces ranging from i694 to i731, so some of that gear might see some use. Chaitee also has one i880 BOA piece she'll keep in her bags. Any gear in her bags will be mailed to her after the boost.

The offical process from Blizzard follows:
Select Character - That would be Chaitee
Choose Spec - Hunter Beast Mastery (selecting this spec is permanent)
The boost comes with a set of i640 green gear itemized for class and spec, 4  Embersilk Bags, 500g, a  Hearthstone, a backpack, and 20  Potato Axebeak Stew.

Other info: At the start Chaitee will have Artisan Flying (level 70). But since there is another character on the account with Draenor Pathfinder in 6.2.2, she should be able to fly in Level 90 Draenor as well. Flying in Legion? Probably not until she reaches level 110.

Pray that all goes well. Launching the Boost . . . NOW.

Chaitee Madness Revealed

Chaitee Madness Revealed

Chaitee is a very level headed hunter. Her competitors on the Auction House know she is also crafty and ruthless when gold is at stake. Attacks on the AH by the Horde have been increasingly frequent. The other auctioneers just sigh and wait for the attackers to leave. It's mostly an annoyance, but Chaitee has begun to take it personally. The interruptions stop the flow of gold into her pocket and she can't have that. Not on her watch.

Chaitee has a secret wish. She wants to be able to kill the idiots that interrupt the flow of gold. The question is what to do about it? She is only a level 32 hunter. Her beast mastery hunter spec is very different in Legion and Chaitee admits she doesn't even recognize it anymore. Chaitee doesn't have the time, either, to level her skills and still get her work done.

Frustrated and maddened at her predicament, Chaitee went a tad crazy. Unable to help herself, she began collecting pieces of gear and hiding them at the back of the guild Vault. Things became even stranger when young Pulsefyre returned to the fold. Chaitee latched onto her, giving her the title of Chaitee's Assistant.

Things went from bad to worse. The flow of gold slowed. Chaitee made demands of Sista to increase the production of bags, despite the slowdown in sales. Pulsefyre was running out of places to store the growing mound of bags.

After another series of disruptions on the Auction House floor, Chaitee snapped. It started with Pulsefyre. Chaitee hunted down the overwhelmed youngster. "You're fired!" Chaitee told her. "You don't know the difference between a plus and a minus! Get out of my sight before I teach you to count by cutting off the digits of your fingers and toes, knuckle by knuckle!" Pulsefyre hastily sped out of town. And there she stays.

Tiphaine finally had enough. She had to really bite back her tongue to keep from lashing out at her, but without Chaitee, Tiphaine would face even worse trouble. She took Chaitee aside, ignoring everything else. The very viability of the Autumn Tea Green Guild could be at stake. The rest of the guild stood aside and murmered among themselves.

Tiphaine considered the obvious questions. Not, "What do you want?" Not, "What's wrong?"
She asked, as calmly as she could without exploding herself. "How can I fix this?"

Chaitee was on the edge, but she was listening to Tiphaine. "I want . . . I need, to protect my customers from the Horde intrusions."

"The rest of the guild have their own business to attend to. Are you asking one of us to stand guard?" Chaitee shook her head.

The others relaxed just a little. "Then I have to ask you again, How do I fix this?"

Chaitee was calmer now. She even seemed a bit sheepish. "I guess you know I've been accumulating a few things. Weapons and gear and such."

Tiphanie was silent, letting Chaitee talk. "I admit it's a bit silly, but I thought if only I could fight back, you know?"

Tiphaine did know. "I see." The others looked baffled.

"How did you know?" Tiphaine asked. Chaitee laughed. "I'm in charge of the storerooms. I didn't know if the guild still had it, but once I started looking it wasn't hard to find."

"WHAT?" demanded the rest of the guildies, frustrated to still be in the dark.

Tiphaine raised a hand, silencing them. "The guild has in our possession a Level 100 Boost artifact."

Tiphaine was surprised that there was less pandemonion that she thought there would be. Sure, there were questions, but when one thinks about it, they all agreed that Chaitee was the right person to have it.

"I can't do what Keya can," Chaitee explained, "and I likely will take my time leveling when I can, but at least I'll be into Legion proper. Even at level 100 and 101 I feel confident I can at least annoy the idiots at the AH."

Chaitee smiled wickedly. "I really want a truly ferocious combat pet, though."

Tiphaine smiled behind her hand. That went well, she figured. It could have turned into a brawl over who should have it. But the major guildies are aleady past the need for a Boost, and if Chaitee wants to play guard of the Auction House, Chaitee would be the gal they would choose, anyway. Most importantly, everyone can go back to business.

Jump-Capable Quest

Jump-Capable Quest

How could Keya know that starting the Jump-Capable quest would turn into a long, long rush slamming through more follow-on quests than she could count. It was an awesome run with some major goodies at the end. In a strange way Keya's struggles has allowed her to become a powerful demon hunter. She is now using that power to slaughter anything and everything in her path, completing quests and scenarios one after the other. Keya recorded each event with a pic.

On The Right Path - Kind of

On The Right Path - Kind of

PS - Sorry for the weekend post but a lot has been happening. More to come.

It has taken Keya a very long time, but it appears that she is on the right path in her pursuit of  "A Glorious Campaign." From that point she has arrived at the next leg, which is "Preparations for Invasion." There are several parts to this and Keya isn't going to lay out the boring details. If something interesting happens on the Scouting Map, Keya will be the first to holler!

Okay, so Keya is done now with the Scouting Map. Instead, she has picked up two quests, "Deadlier Warglaives" and "A Special Kind of Fuel." Keya fussed over those two quests when she first saw them - actually, she went berserk and started writing op-eds about how terrible it was that Keya was being forced to do dungeons and raids. That seems like an age ago now that Keya has done both, and more than once.

Of course, Keya will still complain. Now she has to run dungeons until she gathers 15 sovereign souls. Sigh. This, too, will take some time. She can minimize the time if she does the following three dungeons that each have five bosses (generally, each boss drops one sovereign soul).

Vault of the Wardens
Halls of Valor
Eye of Azshara

The luck of the die gave Keya "Halls of Valor." She picked up four (well, not exactly) sovereign souls. I have the screen prints for all of them. However, I cannot find them in my bags or anywhere else!? Okay, never mind. The quest itself is counting the number. I got ripped off, darn it. It says Keya received only three sovereign souls. Sigh. Okay, well, one dungeon down. By the way, Keya was the lead damage dealer (28.7%). The DPSers did 24%, 22%, and 17%.

In these dungeon runs, wouldn't it be nice if the groups would stay together? Players go scampering off in all five directions within seconds of starting the run. I have this sneaking perception, though, that players might be confused, thinking that Keya is the tank and that they should be following her. Bad idea. Very bad idea. Should I warn folks that I do not know where I'm going? In fact, Keya never knows where she is going.

Aha! Sometimes doing crazy things get good results. Apparently in all the rushing around Keya picked up more than three sovereign souls. The gods of WoW determined that she should have SIX sovereign souls, not three. Hmm, maybe running around mindlessly killing things works well for Keya. Almond offered a better alternative - tagging the actual tank and following it wherever it went. The only issue could be that the healer might be lost, too. Not a problem for Keya and her endless self-heal-me spells, but the real tank might have trouble.

Anyway, Keya will soon be off to another dungeon. Hopefully she'll screw things up enough that she'll find six more souls in her mailbox.  One can hope.

That next dungeon run was "Eye of Azshara." This run was more fun than the crazy mix of the prior run. Not only did the group stay together, the group wanted to clear trash as well. My guess is that there were players still leveling (Players can enter at level 98) and needed the XP. No problem with that. Keya helped mow them down. The bosses were accomodating and when all were dead, Keya's sovereign souls tally went from 6 to 13. She needs only two more to complete the quest.

Keya thought about just letting the group finder pick the next dungeon run, since she only needs two souls. But dungeons have different numbers of bosses. Aww, just check all those that she hasn't run yet! That was an hour ago. Four dungeons checked and not single nibble. Keya figures the real players are in Heroic and Mythic runs with no time to play in the kiddy pool. She's going to hang in there a little longer, but it's starting to look like she'll be at it again tomorrow.

Getting sleepy. Wildshard remembers the days when he would go fishing while waiting to see if he would get picked for a dungeon or raid. Wildshard always had fish food plattters for raiding.

Keya was about to call it a night. Past my bedtime already, but the group finder handed Keya "Neltharion's Lair" and she just couldn't pass it up.Keya got her souls and finished the Fuel quest. Finally, bed.

Greyfang Enclave

Greyfang Enclave

After Keya's round of PvP battlegrounds she found two Mark of Honor in her bags. Though not sure, she guessed that these were items gained from the battlegrounds. She asked around and learned that she could exchange them at the Greyfang Enclave in Dalaran. Curious about what they held, she checked with the vendor at the Enclave. There were a number of interesting things available to exchange. She could even get stuff for an entire PvP team. Keya decided to get "Third Wind: potions." These potions restore 50% health. She has five PvP talents now and has reached level 9, though she doesn't really know what that means.

Back on the Mardum Keya is now playing a waiting game. She is on the last day of a three day mission called "Preparations for Invasion." So far she has completed "Snatch and grab," "Ship-shape" and "Where are the felsouls?" All five of her team are busy so the Scouting Map has no missions. Keya is more than a little bored. She's managed to scare up 628 veiled argunite, but needs 22 more to buy a gear upgrade. Keya has completely cleaned out the argunite in Argus, at least until it's refreshed.

Keya's gear options are getting harder to figure. By the way, her overall gear score is now i916. All of her major pieces of gear are at least i900 - except for her rings and trinkets. She did upgrade one ring: Mac'Aree Seal of Nobility (i935). It's one of a two piece set called Velen's Lament. Keya isn't sure how that works. If she can just buy another ring and slot it to complete the pair, that would be great. Or is there something complicated invloved. She's just not sure.

Her other option is the trinkets. The two are both i880 pieces that really need upgrading. However, Keya knows from experience that random luck determines what kind of trinket she might get. The last time she rolled the dice on a trinket she got a poor versatility piece. In other words, her odds aren't in her favor that an agility piece would drop.

She is also still fumbling around with the new Netherlight Crucible on the Vindicaar. She'd spent about fifteen billion AP to get her traits to 62 at Mardum, but needs to get to 63 in order to slot a new trait on the Crucible. That costs 10 billion and Keya only has around half that presently. Keya is so bored she plans to farm the Broken Shore for what little crap she can scrape up.

Keya has also gotten farther along with both Pathfinder One and Two. In fact, Keya has already completed every requirement of Pathfinder Two - except for one.

The missing piece is the demon hunter class hall campaign. When Keya finishes that, both Pathfinder One and two will be complete. And guess what? When both pathfinders are finished, Keya will be able to FLY!!!

The final piece: Slayer's Felbroken Shrieker, Keya's class mount. She is waiting somewhat impatiently to get the starting quest, which she does not yet have. It's called "To Fel and Back."

Hint regarding the Secret: When you have one it's on the top right on the Enter World Panel.

Battlegrounds! Pathfinder One Ongoing

One of the requirements of "A Glorius Campaign" is to win a battleground. On a pure whim and with no idea what to expect, Keya selected a random battleground. All she knew was that she was in Legion Season Five and in Casual mode. Keya has a whopping 95 honor (ie, 95 of 350). At first the system wouldn't let Keya in, and then realized she hadn't selected a role. That was the first time Keya knew that battlegrounds had the same roles (tank, healing, DPS) as raids and dungeons. You live and learn.

Here's where things got a bit strange. Keya selected DPS. Yes, she's actually Vengeance spec but that hasn't been an issue with either dungeons or raids. So, Keya joined the forming group (the ghostly forms of Wildshard and friends reminding her how the game is played). The timer ticked down and the doors opened. Keya piled out with the rest of the group and the battle began. Keya picked a horde enemy launched her attack.

Then things got really weird. Without any warning or anything, Keya's vengeance spec was replaced with Havoc. Imagine Keya's surprise! Keya is not very profficient in havoc spec. Give her some credit, though, she kept up with her group and fought hard. She didn't count how many times she died. We lost the battleground, though.

The chart shows how the battle went. Keya had no killing blows, died five times and got 11 honorable kills.

I don't know what happened with the switching of specs. Next time I do a battleground Keya will select the tank role. In that role she may not be very good, but she can seriously irritate horde attackers just by how long it takes to kill her.

As far as the actual quest to complete part of Pathfinder, "To Battle!" remains greyed out and the battleground fight didn't seem to have any effect. Oh well. Keya will continue to lumber about until something good happens.

Keya's First Ever Battleground!

Battlegrounds! Part Two

Keya had so much fun in her first battleground she decided to try it again. This time she chose the tank role. We lost again but wow Keya kicked butt!

To start with Keya got her first killing blow. Ever.
She died only four times.
She had only three honorable kills but her role wasn't to kill things, it was to keep the other guys from killing us.
Keya's 26,527K damage done was #1 on her team! And . . .
Counting both alliance and horde, Keya's damage done overall placed her in 7th place out of the twenty players; ie, only six other players on either side did better damage.

PS - Remember Keya's 95 honor? It's now at 285 of 350.

Suddenly the Curtain Parts

Suddenly the Curtain Parts

Special Note: A lot has happened between the weekend and now (Tuesday). So much that was broken in Keya's early days, fractured and seemingly unfix-able, has suddenly and almost magically begun to mend. So many things that virtually every player takes for granted is only now becoming clearer to Keya.

It started when Keya finally completed the Emerald Nightmare Raid and the Vault of the Wardens dungeon. When she stalked into the Mardum, still hyped up from her successes, all those who had been ignoring her week after week now hovered around her, wanting her attention . . . and Keya loved it! Even Mother Matron Malevolence sweetened, accepting the quests that Malevolence had denied even existed! Until now. Keya's smile was predatory, and within minutes Malevolence had become a mere soldier under Keya's command. Power burned through the Mardum.

As the night grew longer, Keya took stock of her new successes. One thing kept her from getting too cocky, though. Despite the flood of progress, Keya's gear score remains at i912. But she couldn't hold in her seriousness, giggling a little, knowing that she has twelve billion artifact power to buy one, or maybe two, major artifact upgrades. More to come.

It started at the Mardum, on The Fell hammer.

The Emerald Nightmare Once Again

The Emerald Nightmare Once Again

The Argus work doesn't keep Keya fully engaged, so she is taking a break to again try to figure out all the messy pieces Keya has made of her quests and achievements. She is also throwing in her frustrations with Pathfinder Part One (yes, still not done, don't laugh! Grrr.). So this may take awhile.

Let's start with the Emerald Nightmare
The Emerald Nightmare raid has been unlocked. Keya will again be welcome to raid there. She returned to Meredil and met with Valewalker Farodin. He had a quest ready called "Redemption for the Fallen" and Keya got 1.1 billion AP which completed the quest. She made ready for another crack at the Emerald Nightmare raid.

Keya is focused on one thing. Get to Xavius, kill him (again) and take the purified life essence that should be visible on the tree stump next to Cenarius. I hope Keya doesn't screw this up again. If she waits too long after Xavius is killed Cenarius will fade and she won't get it.

Keya was ready to rumble Friday, but a larger problem nixed that plan. Complications with a pregnant feral cat who had to have surgery is going to keep us busy. We lost two unborns we had hoped to save, but at least we saved the mother. She is on the mend from surgery and we'll release her in a few days. So Keya's shot at the Emerald Nightmare had to be postponed until later in the afternoon.

Free again, Keya called on the Group Finder. Keya signed up just for the Rift af Ahn part of the raid. The wait was not a long one, and Keya entered the raid. Keya is still a novice raider, but she was sure the designated tank usually takes control of the raid. This time there didn't seem to be anyone running things. Keya, having seen the raid a few times now, started tagging bad guys and killing them off. Things gelled then and the raiders swept through the instance and tackled Xavius. Down he went, for the fourth time. Keya went immediately to Cenarius and found the tree stump with the purified essence and grabbed it. Job done. Finally. Keya was more relieved than happy. She'd finally gotten it done after all those false starts.

Of course, with every success comes a new challenge:
Speaking of Pathfinder Part One (PP1)

Keya's progress has been slowed by several long quest threads, primarily the Leyline Bling quests, which never seemed to end. Keya went back and forth between Suramar and Meridil a million times. She hates that dank cave where Thyrssa huddles. All of those quests have been completed.

Keya followed that success with a very long series of quests including "A Growing Crisis" and "A Change of Seasons." Completing those earned Keya the "A Good Suramaritan" achievement. Believe me, that is a huge success for Keya.

All that is left to complete PP1 now is the Demon Hunter Class Order Campaign. She will take that on another day.

PS - As for the secret? Wrong answer

Shackle's Den Aszuna

Shackle's Den Aszuna

MAJOR UPDATE COMING - Keya has an important announcement. Details to come later today.

Sista has been trying to find a better way to collect shal'dorei cloth to make Silkweave satchels. If one reads the guides, the best place is Snowblind Mesa in Highmountain. However, Sista has been there three times for an hour each and the take was never more then 10-20 pieces of cloth. Which sucks.
When Chaitee starts clamoring for silkweave cloth, Sista heads for the Academy shoreline in Aszuna. There are a lot of murlocs there, all the time. Sista can't kill things as fast as Keya can so the killing and retrieving takes longer. She's also slow moving in her bear form. Her best effort so far has been 80 silk over an hour of farming. Since it takes 90 silk to make one bag, that is a lot of farming.
Shackles Den, also in Aszuna, is near an area of pirates. That was suggested as an easier alternative. The pirates die faster, but they are more spread out, and it's possible to clean them out so she has to wait a bit for them to respawn. Sista was already tired from the murloc farming, but even so she managed to get 47 cloth in under an hour killing pirates.
Sista considered taking feral as her secondary spec, but that's been tried by Wildshard back in the day and it wasn't pretty. Feral is just not a spec she can make work for her.
Sista also considered taking Balance as her secondary spec. In his day Wildshard actually leveled in Balance spec, cloth armor and all. It worked for him, but it was always secondary to Wild's healing spec, which is useless for what Sista needs now. Sista is wedded to her tanking gear now.
Sista asked Keya one time if she would blaze though the murloc run and see how long it took and how much cloth she got. It would make an interesting comparison. However, as a leather worker, Keya would get little or no cloth at all. Sorry Sista, that just won't work.
Farming embersilk and frostweave is a whole lot easier and faster.

Keep it Quiet

Keep it quiet, but Chaitee has a secret. So far  no one seems to know about it, since Chaitee does all the handling of goods and gold for the guild. Recently, some items that Chaitee set aside never made it to the AH. There was also a number of pieces of gear piled in a unused closet. Tiphaine made some mention of clogging up the guild bank with junk, little of it useful. Or so it seems. Dull Rakta, with little to do but snoop, caught Chaitee seperating pieces of gear. Rakta pushed the issue, demanding where the gear was going. Chaitee gave Rakta her sweetest, deadliest smile and mentioned that if she ever wanted gold or materials for opening lockboxes she should just mind her own business. Rakta hastily backed off.

Rakta wasn't done snooping, though. She gave bored Pulsefyre a skeleton key, and with a little magic from the warlock, they opened one of the storage closets. All that was in the closet were more gear, useless junk that no one in the family could want. Rakta stomped off, grumbling to herself. Pulsefyre stuck around, looking over the gear and puzzling over what made this junk different from the other junk. She tapped her young magic, using Haunt to see what Chaitee was up to. Then it came to her. All of the gear was of the same type. It was all i780 gear, mail gear specifically, along with trinkets and rings. Who would use such stuff? Like Rakta, Pulsefyre could find no reason, either. There was work to be done. Later in the afternoon the unusual pile of gear simply disappeared.
