OH Crap!

OH Crap!

The latest version, 8.01 or whatever has been released.

The Lords of WoW have been patiently working behind the scenes. The latest patches are in and things seem to be working themselves out. Even the Addons seem to have been able to survive the process.Version 8.0.1 is stable, from Wow's perspective.

Still, no one has looked at the addons yet. The number of addons being used are the fewest since addons came into being. There is the Post Office (Postal) and there is the Auctioneer with Enchantrix and Informant.

There have been NO addon updates or changes made yet, but things are still working even without the new expansion.

As of twenty minutes ago everything was working fine. But now the old Auctioneer has crashed and no longer functions properly. Auctioneer is the most complex of the few addons being used, but it is crucial.

For now, do NOT open Auctioneer until a fix is available.

The Fix is In

The Gods of Wow renamed the cache. interface, and WTF files to reset the system to it's base settings. There was a re-launch to see what was there. No addons were added on the first test, which was successfull. Encouraged, a single addon was added for the next launch. That addon is Postal, which has always been a very simple and stable addon. On re-launch Postal showed up in the addon list. The only addon, so far. Chaitee tested Postal and it was working as intended. So far so good.

The big test comes next. The most important addon of them all is Auctioneer. There are two ways to install that addon. Curseforge is a program that handles a lot of different games, one of which is Warcraft, and it also can be used to install addons for WoW was well. Curseforge promised that they could install Auctioneer directly from them so the okay was given to do it that way. It failed. Boo to Curseforge.

So, we went back to the original owner of Auctioner, the Lady Norganna. The addon is still being maintained even in the current 8.1 version. The install went flawlessly. Chaitee is as happy as happy can be. YEA!

Time to Git Bloody

Time to Get Bloody

Chaitee Away from the Auction House
Tiphaine and Java have set the pace. The rest of the family needs to step forward.

Kul Tiras Snug Harbor Inn

Okay Tiphaine! Show us your Guild Tabard!

Tabard is still Under construction

Gear Score: ilvl 194
Artifact Power: Level 1 250 to next rank
She is 43% of the way to Level 111

Java - Show us your Specs!
Gear score climbed to iLevel 216.
Artifact Power is at Level 5 (up from 3), needing 461 AP to reach the next level.
Smashed the dial at Level 114, 3% toward level 115.

Keya is next: Gear Score: ilvl 202 now 213
Artifact Power Level 1 250 to next rank
She is 49% of the way to Level 111
Don't forget that Keya has TWO legendaries among her gear.

Mounted Keya
Sista is Next:
Gear Score: ilvl 176 to 189
Artifact Power: Level 1 250 to next rank
She is 5% of the way to Level 111

Atkar is Next: She took the Shortcut. It was faster, but she did lose some XP.
Gear Score: ilvl 161 became 176.
Artifact Power: Level 1 29% to next rank
She is 5% of the way to Level 111

Note: From Stormwind, Atkar discovered that the ship she embarked on took her Exodor and Auzuremyst Isle.  Once there, Atkar found herself on a forced march that ultimately takes her to Argus. All attempts to shortcut the process seems ultimately to end at "A Dying World" no matter what direction was taken. There is no escape. The pattern must be observed and followed. Her next journey will - and must - go through Uldum and then to Silithus.

Chaitee is Last:
Gear Score: ilvl 162 to 177
Artifact Power: Level 1 250 toward the next rank
She is 13% of the way to Level 111 (one eleven)

Another Dying Bag Post

Another Dying Bag Post

Today, 08/22/2018 marks another new low in bag management.

Silkweave Satchels have plunged to a price of 200g (down from a high of 500g). The bag is the largest "small" bag one can buy with 24 slots. This kills both embersilk and frostweave bags.

Beyond that the bags jump way up in price:
Hexweave bags sell around 1700 gold
Imbued Silkweave Satchels sell around 1800 gold
Deep Sea Bags (30 slot) sell at over 4,000 gold
Embroidered Deep Sea Bags (32 slots) go for, get this : 150,000 gold

It's still too early to be sure, but it certainly seems that there will be only two kinds of bags, the low end 24 slot satchels; and the high end hexweave around 1700g plus

Then there is Wildshard: Wildshard has made it Kul Tiras seemingly without going through official channels. He has been able to earn the achievement, Angling for Battle from fishing. He has picked up both Kul Tiran Tailoring and Enchanting.

He has also settled into the Snug Harbor Inn and pitched his hearthstone there.
The problem? Wild has no quests and no idea how to proceed. There is Wind's Redemption. A fine ship to where? Stormwind, Wild hopes.

Update: Wildshard was a little sheepish when he discovered he needed to complete the "Blink of an Eye" series before she could engage fully with the battle for Azeroth. It took a trip to Uldum and Silithis to bring out the thread that finally caught. Wildshard took his lumps and joined flow to Kul Tiras. His reward - a magnificent chest piece with Azerite power. In addition, quests are now available.

Java has been teasing the rest of the family for lagging behind.
Tiphaine, feeling the pressure, agreed that she would charge into the fray next.
Keya wants to go after Tiphaine, followed by Sista, and finally, Chaitee.

There are no immediate plans to use the Level 110 Boost.

On the Horde side, both Jocelyne and Plumrosefist are lobbying for time. That isn't likely, since neither have gotten past Level 100.

Playing Catch-Up (Part One)

Playing Catch-Up (Part One)

Tiphaine thought she had things under control when the battle for Azeroth swept across the world. She has to admit that she lost control of the process and is now mostly on the sideline. Tiphaine isn't that concerned about the progress of individual players. Java is proving to be a strong candidate to reach the pinnacle of level 120. That said, Java still has a long ways to go.

Tiphaine has her own struggles, a problem within the guild itself. The guild has been static for years. No new members, no lost members . . .  an unchanging guild. But somewhere, somewhen, something did happen. The guild became frozen in place, or at least it seems to be.

Tiphaine didn't see a problem . . . not at first. She saw the Autumn Green Tea Guild proudly displaying it's Exalted reputation, including the Guild's Renowned Guild Tabard.

Tiphaine saw Java running around without the tabard and ordered Java to claim her own. The tabard grants 100% guild reputation gains. That has to be worth something. But Java was annoyed when Tiphaine demanded that she sport the guild tabard.

"I'm too busy," Java proclaimed, but Tiphaine pushed the issue and Java relented. Java teleported to Dalaran and went to the Dalaran Visitor Center to get her tabard. No joy. Tiphaine soon learned that no one in the guild had a guild tabard except her.

"What is going on!" Tiphaine demanded at the Visitor Center. Still angry, she opened the guild. The basics were all laid below:

Guild and Communities
Autumn Tea Green
One of Nine Members
Guild Perks
Guild Rewards

So why is the guild non-functional? Why can't Tiphaine provide guild tabards to the members? No answer has been found yet.

Playing Catch-Up Part Two (Discovering new lands)

So far Tiphaine and Java have made the transition from Stormwind to Boralas. For the rest of the guild, the process goes something like this:

(1) Go to Stormwind. (2) An NPC will approach you with an urgent message. (3) That will trigger the artifact acquisition questline and award an artifact weapon for one spec. (4) Complete the questline.

Wildshard still has to remind the guild every ten minutes that he is NOT in the guild anymore. He is trying to find recruits for his new guild.

Wild took the short route by going directly to Stormwind to take a ship going to Borolas Harbor in Kul Tiras. Once there, he promptly found a tavern, the Snug Harbor Inn. And then he went fishing. So far so good, as far as Wild is concerned. Super easy. Why was this so hard when Java did it? Goons.

Wild declined to mention that he is only 6% into his leveling. Put down that ale and get busy!

Javajoo Levels Up

 Javajoo Levels Up

Java is the first in the family to advance from Level 110 to Level 111.

Chaitee has news as well. Silkweave bags have collapsed. Normally purchased between 400 and 650 gold each, hundreds of the bags were dumped on the market at 198g. Chaitee was tempted to buy out a bunch of them, but she can have them made for less than that. There were 144 silkweave bags on the auction house.

That also takes the 20 slot frostweave bags off the market since their average selling cost is 275g. Silkweave is cheaper.

At the higher end the 30 slot hexweave and 30 slot imbued silkweave were on sale at around 1750g.

The NEW Deep Sea Bag (also 30 slots) will cost ya 9,999 gold. That price will drop over time as more crafters learn to make them. Chaitee has a reservoir of about a dozen hexweave. Hexweave bags are not expensive to make, but they take time to craft. There will always be a market for them and crafters will continue to make them.

Update: Silkweave bag prices have fallen again. The satchels are being hawked at just 150g per bag, down again from yesterday's 198g. Keep this up and sellers will be giving them away.

Java will try to pick up the pace on her leveling.

LEVEL 111!

Java Goes to Dustvar

Java Goes to Dustvar

It seemed to be a simple task. A house that needed some ghosts removed, a nasty cemetary with ghouls and other haunts to tame, and ethereal creatues intent on killing the living. That was her task. Java took small boat from Tiragarde Sound to Boralas, Dustvar.

Java picked her first new herbs in the new land, a sea stalk, when she heard crying. Of course Java went to aid the lady, and that was Java's first major mistake. The lady in distress was pure evil. Wecome to Dustvar. The batle was long and there were a couple of spots where Java's health was in the single digits. Java gritted her teeth, literally chewing on the evil thing, and finally killed it. If this is what Java will be facing on an ordinary morning, Java worried she was already in over her head.

Fortunately, things were a little bit saner as Java drew near a house that needed some ethereal cleansing, and that task Java waded into with relish. The opponents were mostly of the ghostly variety, but they packed a punch and it took time to kill them. On several occassions Java and other players helped each other kill things, which made things go a little faster.

Two hours later, Java slogged back to the boat and left Dustvar to return to the Sound. No new gear was earned, but she was happy for the 66% experience she gained. She also came back with a number of items that help with her Herbalism and mining skills.

Later, while Java slept, the Gods of WoW locked the doors of entry, claiming a lack of gold to open the Battle for Azeroth. For reasons unknown, Azeroth was off limits. All efforts to restore sanity to the process failed.

But the next morning - this morning - Tiphaine kicked Java out of bed to check if anything had changed. There was. Azeroth was again available and active. Waiting for them were two new additions, a pet called Tottle, and a new mount, the Seabraid Stallion. The world may yet tilt as it settles. But for now, all eyes are focused on finding glory and riches.

Java has her marching orders. Go to the harbor at Stormwind and take the ship bound for Boralus. Learn everything she can and report back.

The Battle for Azeroth Begins Without Me!

The Battle for Azeroth Begins Without Me!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Battle for Azeroth Launch date Is 3PM PDT - on August 13th. THAT'S TODAY !!!!!!!
Warcraft changed the process that determines when the new expansion launches. Under the prior rules the launch would start on August 14th. However, in the Pacific Time Zone the launch actually starts at 3PM on August 13th!

That caused some early hand-ringing, because MY DOG has an appointment with a specialist to determine if she will need surgery for her eyes.  I will miss the launch!

BUT! - I got home in time to see the start of the Battle for Azeroth. (And yes, I made it to the appointment for our dog, Shela, too.)

As the leader of the Guild, Tiphaine rightfully should have gotten the honor of making the first launch. There was confusion, however, and first to the scene wound up being Javajoo. The Alliance always seems to launch new wars at Stormwind. Sure enough, the piers at Stormwind were launching expeditions.  There was fighting and killing and endless shouting about lore and frenzied cut scenes. She earned a new sword, although her Oathbreaker was still the better blade. Then her new blade got stuck and there was this monstrous thing in front of her and, well, Java died.

Java found herself back in Stormwind Harbor.  Tiphaine wasn't there.

Tiphaine had taken the leap as well. Learning from Java's mistakes, Tiphaine plowed through the battles and found herself on a boat that brought her to a new land she had never seen before.

I'm not in Kansas anymore, goes the old saying, Tiphaine quipped. She learned that she had come to a land called Kul Tiras, in Tira Garde Sound, at a place called Boralas. Apparently, this is going to be her home for at least awhile. It's a small city, much like other cities. Tiphaine has discovered an Inn, a banker, and other welcome signs of a thriving community.

Tiphaine wants to look around. Yes, the rest of the guild wants in on this land, but there is no need to hurry. Chaitee still mans the Auction House in Stormwind, and that won't change. The Guild may grumble, but Tiphaine intends to take her time.

Wildshard is once again Alone

Wildshard is once again Alone

There is nothing wrong with the Gearworks guild Wild joined some months ago. They are good folks but it isn't what Wild wants, so he quietly left the guild. He's been a fighter all his life, but age is catching up with him. Wildshard fought in the massive, and now practically extinct, forty man Molten Core raids. Ancient history now, but the glory of that period will never be forgotton. Back then Wildshard was a healer, and a good one. He is proud of his accomplishments. Wildshard also has made the rare jump from Horde to Alliance, which in many ways made him an enemy to both factions.

Being guildless is still a bit disconcerting. The Alliance Autumn Tea Green Guild would likely take him back, but Guild Leader Tiphaine would make him beg for it. Not a chance.

Wild has in mind going on a walkabout. A journey of introspection and discovery. At some point in his journey he may want company. Or he may not. Which means he needs to be prepared for both options. And for that to work, Wild is going to create his own guild.

Wildshard made his way to Dalaran and stopped in at the Dalaran Visitor Center. He asked for directions on how to establish a guild. The requirements are pretty easy, having been greatly simplified over time. At one time starting a new guild required getting ten people to sign up for the guild. These days, Wild only needs four people to sign up. He also must buy a charter, which costs a paltry ten silver, and he must register the guild.

Then there is the matter of how to get four players to sign up with the guild. One idea is to go to a busy area and post in general chat. Offer gold as an incentive if necessary. Always tell the potential signer your intentions for the guild, that the guild is to be a bank-alt, and that you can leave or be removed once it's established.

Wild left the biggest decision for last. What will be the name of the new guild? Wild thought about that. Wildshard loves fishing, farming, and killing. Add those three things together and you get the guild name: BloodNtheWater

Wild also selected his tabard - the Renowned Guild Tabard which grants Guild reputation gains of 100%. Now he must get those four signatures to seal the deal.
