Dust Farming and Artifact No Nos

Today's post includes:

Dust Farming and Artifact No No's

Sista learned a great lesson about farming infinite dust. She already knew she could get infinite dust by disenchanting gear from raid level Naxxramas. What she didn't know was that she could also get infinite dust by shattering abyss crystals, which also drop in Naxxramas. In one run Sista collected 144 infinite dust from 48 crystals and disenchants.

Should she need more this week, there are several other Lich King level raids and dungeons she could plumb.

Other raids/dungeons that can be used (lvl 80):

    Icecrown Citadel.
    Naxxramas.
    Onyxia's Lair.
    The Eye of Eternity.
    The Obsidian Sanctum.
    The Ruby Sanctum.
    Trial of the Crusader.
    Ulduar.

Sista is now farming stormscale to supplement the mid-week lag.

Rakta is feeling a bit down. Quests are hard to come by for some reason and she hasn't gotten any clues to advance her jewelcrafting. She's also stymied on her other profession, alchemy. Her only progress has been with her artifacts and campaigns. She took notice of the mess Sista and Keya has made of theirs, and hopes to learn from their mistakes.

Rakta asked Keya if she would share her growing pains. With some reluctance, Keya acquiesced.

Keya admits that she made very bad mistakes with her artifact building. She was the first in the family to start that path. Keya set out on a path based on her own view of what selections should be made. Had she started in the right place, she might have been able to rectify some of the mistakes.

Now there are standard paths that get the most out of the artifact pathway. Keya correctly started her path with Soul Carver and Tormented Souls. She then went the wrong way, choosing Infernal Force over Shatter the Souls. That put her on the wrong path, a path she followed for thirteen ranks.

Changing a path is basically a non-starter. The cost  of artifact power (AP) is just too high. Keya's only choice, now, is to reverse course and start completing the path in the right direction. She is currently at 1 of 3 Fiery Demise. She has 13 steps to go, with each one costing ever more AP (18k for the next step). So she is paying a huge price for lower value that she should have already completed - had she taken the right path. It's painful to watch, and she will get there, but right now she has crippled herself.
