The Eye of Gurgh

The Eye of Gurgh

The Eye of Gurgh is a high level elite that randomly appears in the Broken Shore. These elites appear for short periods of time, appearing and disappearing. Getting to them can be a challenge, particularly when having to fight to get to it's location. What caught Keya's eye was that the Eye of Gurgh was within easy reach from the Aegen Flight Path.

Keya had almost decided to retire for the night. But she had fought one of those special elites before and won. Even though she'd had help, Keya felt confident she could take on Gurgh solo. Getting to the elite was a little more complicated than the map showed. Keya had to clear a number of mobs once she was in the vicinity, and then entered a deep tunnel where Gurgh was waiting. Keya wasted no time and waded in, weapons flashing. She fought ferociously with abandon. One of her strengths is her ability to "maintain the pain" on the elite and not let it get a breath. Keya did a quick check of her status and . . . gulp, saw her health was at 50% and Gurgh still had 65%. This was not going as well as expected.

Keya kept up the assault and started folding in her heavier spell artillery. She then burned her save me spells to gain back some ground. It was going to be very tight. Keya launched everything she had left. Her assigned sidekick emptied his arsenal as well, but Keya died before the final blow struck home.

It took Keya fifteen minutes to find her corpse. When she finally located it, the body of Gurgh was still warm, but definitely dead. To her shock and the will of the gods, Gurgh was still lootable. Keya did not get any AP for the kill, but she did get some goodies which made the whole battle worthwhile. She earned an upgrade of her bracers, from i840 to i860. She also earned enough nethershards to bet on a better ring, giving up her i835 ring for a new i860 ring.

Overall, her gear score went from i845 to i848, a very nice improvement. Keya is still shocked that she could still loot a corpse already fifteen minutes dead. She isn't complaining. These special elites don't often drop worthy gear, but Gurgh proved it does happen. And FPS troubles were minor to boot. Can't imagine getting that loot had FPS been bad.
