Thursday (4 Nov) - Twilight's Hammer

Thursday (4 Nov) - Twilight's Hammer

Holding her quest, "Prophecies of Doom," JB slipped into the crowd of good Orgrimmar citizens listening to the Doomsayer.

A Doomsayer Talks

The Doomsayer spoke of terrible times to come, but all will be well if we join with their movement. One line in particular chilled JB: "The world is ending and the unprepared will die a painful death."

JB reported back to Torek. Growing more alarmed at the strength, conviction, and organization of the Doomsayer cultists, he asked JB to post signs around the Drag discouraging citizens from congregating around the Doomsayers, offering her the quest "Signs of the Times." JB did as she was asked, but it was becoming clear that the Doomsayers were gaining strength.

Setting up Discouraging Signs

Torek needed more information. JB stole a cultist robe ("Infiltrating the Cult") and rode out of Orgrimmar to the Jaggedswine farm on the outskirts of the city where the cultists were congregating. JB was able to fool the local cult leader, Jintak, with her disguise. She used her disguise to talk to several of the cultists ("The Missing") in the area, discovering those that were among the many listed as missing. All of them were already fully indoctrinated into the cult and had no desire to return to their homes and family. This was becoming very serious indeed.

Talking to Cultist

Before JB could slip away, Jintak caught up with her and directed JB to spread the word of the cult even further. She was given a sign to wear with it's Doomsday message emblazoned on it ("Spreading the Word"). It was embarrassing, but JB had no choice to comply or her disguise would be discovered.

Doomsday Message

She displayed her message at both of the Zeppelin towers outside Orgrimmar and as far south as the town of Razor Hill. JB was very relieved to finish the task and get rid of the disgusting sign.

Jintak wasn't done with JB, however. Overseer Golbaz wanted JB to participate in a ritual he would soon start. During the ritual JB learned that deadly devices were being built at the farm and then carried into the city. An image of the cultist's master, Cho'Gall, appeared at the altar. The two headed troll was Chieftain of Twilight's Hammer, a cult devoted to destroying the world and placing themselves at the top of a new order supposedly to come directly from the Old Gods.

The Ritual

JB was ordered to take several of the devices the cult built and hide them throughout the city. Instead, JB brought them to Torek along with the news that Twilight's Hammer was behind the Doomsday cult ("The Doomsday Plan"). Alarmed, Torek ordered JB to find and destroy any devices she could find in the city ("Thwarting Twilight's Hammer").

It didn't take JB long to find the first barbell like device, rotating slowly in the air.

The Device

Taking a firm grip on her dagger, JB struck the device.

That Hurt!

The resulting explosion from that one blow blinded JB momentarily. When the flash faded from her eyes JB was facing a huge, hostile fire elemental. JB, dressed for healing, pulled out what offensive attacks she had. It was a short fight, and JB killed the elemental, but it took several spell assisted blows and JB lost about 20% of her health. I suspect that lower level players doing this quest chain will face fire elementals appropriate for their level. All toons level 5 or higher can take this quest chain. JB had to destroy five of the devices.

The last step ("Alert our Leaders") sent JB directly to Overlord Garrosh to report on the Twilight Hammer's activities. JB learned that Warchief Thrall has given Garrosh leadership of the Horde while Thrall heads to Northrend to deal with the elementals that have begun plaguing the area. That would seem to mean that Thrall is no longer at his throne in the Valley of Wisdom, yet he is still there with Garrosh. The event is basically repeating the conversation and turn-over of power but doesn't go so far as to remove Thrall from his throne. Perhaps that will come in Phase 2, which hasn't started yet.
