Invasion Onslaught
Wildshard knew he faced a long dry spell. He had his choice to hang up his gear for a few weeks . . . or, he could say the hell with that! For the first time Wild took part in an Invasion Onslaught. Wild has gone into those portals a few of times, but it was always devoid of anyone other than the elites hanging around hoping Wild might accidentally trip something that would get him killed. But nothing ever came of it.
This time there was a raid forming. And this time Wild got an invitation. What a rush it was to see that a tank was needed and Wild was that tank! Of course there were many others in the raid, and other tanks, too. For once Wild wished he could see the damage he was doing to the super elite target. He must have done okay. Wild never had to back out of the fight, and only twice did trouble find him. Wild thanked the unknown healer who twice got Wild out of trouble.
Wild never died and saw the fight to the finish.
Now, I have to say that the reward for that success was a little underwhelming. His "reward" is to go out and complete three Invasion Points. More grinding. No matter, Wild can take his break knowing he will be rested and ready when it is time to head back into the action.
PS - The RV trip is underway. See ya in a month!

The Secret to Walking on Water
The Secret to Walking on Water
Two Days From Launch
Wildshard is a very versatile fellow. Obviously he can walk on solid ground, and can morph between a number of forms, from human, to fish, to bird. With the Underlight Angler, the form changes are instantaneous. Dive into the sea and Wild immediately morphs into a fish. Leap into the air and become a bird. That sort of thing.
What Wild is having trouble with is walking on water. With the Underlight Wild can literally walk on water. Well, sometimes. Wild hasn't quite mastered that elusive talent. What usually happens is that Wild propels through the water, leaping about randomly hoping he finds firm footing, but mostly sinking underwater. It's great entertainment to watch, but . . .
Eventually Wild will find that moment where he is successfully standing on top of the water. Oh, well, Wild is facing in the wrong direction. Hmmm. Wild can walk in that direction. Then he turns . . . Splash! Wild gets a dunking. Sigh. Unfortunately, it's no better with the raft, which tends to float or sink at whim. Wild swears there must be some secret method by which this can be done withought ingesting gallons of water.
Chaitee wanted to lament the status of the Auction House but watching Wild drown is a lot more entertaining. Actually, drowning is pretty close to the status of Chaitee's attempt to wring gold from sellers who have no idea how to properly play the AH.
Loose Ends - Miscellanous items while wrapping up for the trip. Wild will get a vacation for as long as a month.
Aha! Walking on water requires using the CTRL button to walk on the water without thrashing about. Now Wild knows.
Wildshard raised his overall gear score to i907. Wild also has only two more steps left to complete all artifacts on his Underlight Angler. But the AP required makes for a LOT of fishing.
Not sure when the next post will be, or where we will be. We are two days away from Launch!

Six Days 'Till Launch
Six Days 'Till Launch
Chaitee is in some ways happy that her work at the Auction House will be closed when the great RV Trip to the East coast and back begins on May 30th. We will be gone for a month. Chaitee has been straining to keep the gold coming, but things are not going well on that front. Too many players dumping too many goods at prices that only 'bots can afford. Chaitee fought hard to push frostweave bag prices to 325 gold each, only to see a dump of hundreds at 225g. Chaitee manueavered a major push for Satchels at 578g (a price already lowered) only to see two dozen satchels now selling at 500g.
These bidders and buyers have no finesse and no sense of proper etiquette. Sorry state of affairs. Chaitee will get a boon at the end, though. The mailbox is holding over 50 high priced items that will all be cashed in when the AH is closed down for the trip.
In the meantime, Wild will continue his fishing and occassional runs into Argus until we cast off our lines and head out on our adventure. We'll have our dog, Shela, our two best cats, Jason and Jonesie, and the two 6 month old little ones, Scout and BB.
Our next door neighbor has the really hard part - taking care of the pets still at home while we're gone.

Focus on Suramar
Focus on Suramar
(If Wild can tear himself away from Fishing)
Suramar was a strange, even frightful place when young Keya first sneaked past the guards and gawked at elites patrolling their streets. Even with a disguise, she did all she could to stay out of the way of the many denizens that live within the bubble of their city. Perhaps some of that awe rubbed off on Wild, for he has avoided the place . . . up to now. Wild's map has few features filled in. It's mostly blank. Wild knows Meridil and the Crimson Thicket. Everything else is fly over country on the way to the fishing ponds adjacent to the endless Jandvik battles.
While preparing for that long task, Wild found time in Sylvan Falls for more fishing. The needed artifact power has jumped to over 6k, requiring ever greater numbers of fish. Wild is also acquiring shoes. Old pairs of shoes. They are a result of failed chances to acquire a real legendary pair of boots. Somewhere in Keya's memiores, there is a reference to the number of terrible fishing shoes she still has stacked away in a closet. Wild only has two such pairs of shoes so far.
The Broken Isles and Argus provide a pitiful few challenges that barely get Wild's attention these days, although Wild did get an invasion success that helped toward getting more stuff toward another gear upgrade.
But that isn't Wild's focus. He has his Underlight Angler. Wild needs a new target, and that target is Suramar.
Wild went to Iron Grove Retreat to begin his "study" of Suramar. And it began with a fishing expedition. What? Just because it's Suramar doesn't mean Wild can't fish while he's at it.? :-P
Wild even made a discovery. The stream that flows through the retreat area has a lot of great fishing spots for runescale koi. An even bigger surprise is that the winding stream turns into a full scale river, connecting to Sylvan Falls in Highmountain!
Chaitee Closes Auction House
A customer over filled the AH with singles of silkweave cloth - literally hundreds and hundreds of them. The price was too cheap not to grab them, even though it took all day to process them. Well, the AH choked on the amount and eventually the Auction house crashed. Chaitee wasn't about to lose those sales, however. Careful timing and a PC restart helped get the rest of the goods into Chaitee's hands. Never let a buyer off the hook. Make that sale. That's Chaitee's motto.

Legendaries
Legendaries
Demon hunter Mahakeya has returned, at least for a time, curious at Wildshard's new life. Changing from Horde to Alliance and losing his affiliate with the Autumnn Tea Green Guild had to be rough as well. Keya spoke to Guild Leader Tiphaine about that. Tiphaine took a hard stance with Wild over the change, but things seem to have blown over. Wild and Tiphaine are at least on speaking terms and recently wished Wild success with his new guild, the Goblin Gearworks.
So far the affiliation with the new guild has been pleasant.
Keya and Wild have always been fierce competitors, and they now share a common bond with the Underlight Angler, which both Keya and Wild understand go beyond just fishing.
The Underlight Angler is a legendary item, cast in red. Wild now has one as well.
Keya says she has been cursed with legendaries.
She has her Underlight.
She has the Cinidaria, the Simbiote, an i970 belt.
She also has The Sentinel's Eternal Refuge, an i970 pair of boots.
Only two such items can be equipped at the same time.
Keya has a fourth legendary, the Kirel Narak, another pair of i970 boots. Keya caught Wild checking the boots out, hanging from their boot laces. Keya admits she feels sorry the Kirel boots can't be used. Unable to let the boots go, Keya maintains a faint hope that some day those boots will be exchangeable and useful to someone.
Maybe Wild will get them one day. Ha. Fat chance, Wild murmurs.
But he still wishes.

The Underlight Angler is Operational - Almost
The Underlight Angler is Operational - Almost
Okay, Wild is starting to get his Underlight Angler together. Wild went out to Auzergale Bay in Suramar early in the morning. The battles still raged, as they always are, but Wild easily found a stretch of coastline for fishing. Wild had one thing in mind. Fish until he got a rare fish. And then toss the rare fish back into the water and see what happens.
Wild fished up a few barracudas in one of the pools. In another pool he caught a rare Axefish. Time for the ultimate test: Wild tossed the axefish back into the water. There was a Whoosh! of water dousing Wild, who was standing too close to the shoreline. Wild checked his wet pole and opened his artifact. Woo Hoo! Wild can see his artifact now and has 50 AP. Progress at last.
Well. It was still early morning and there was no one about. A string of pools looked very inviting. Wild caught a rare Seabottom Squid. Yes, the same fish that Wild went through hell for.
Right after catching the first Seabottom Squid, he caught another. Another 50 AP went into his artifact. And then came a string of Seabottom Squids, EIGHT in all! It's working!
When the rush of catches finally petered out, Wild had received 1200 artifact power for his Underlight.
Unfortunately, there is still yet another issue to figure out. Wild still can't figure out how to spend the AP and to activate traits. Wild's Forge is the same forge that Wild uses for his weapon and for his Underlight. But the forge won't acknowledge the Underlight. Wild tried various ways of interacting with the Pearl in Dalaran, too, but it doesn't recognize the Underlight, either. So Wild finally has 1200 AP to spend but no way to do so.
Here's a direct Quote: "You must visit the artifact forge in your class hall to purchase traits."
Wild tried it with the Claws of Ursoc (and the forge worked) and with the Underlight equipped (it didn't work), and with no weapon equipped at all. Got the warning, "You must have an artifact equipped."
Wild is starting to wonder if the issue has to do with Wild's Druid Campaign progress (or lack of progress). Wild looked into the idea of choosing a second artifact to pursue, but Wild was only offered the usual suspects. There was no selection that offered the Underlight Angler.
Underlight Angler Correction: In the excitement of Wild getting his Underlight working he forgot to correct the manner in which it works. Wild thought he had to go to the Forge in the Druid Grove. That's a No. Wild's Underlight Forge is the Orb over the Dalaran Fountain. Just wanted to make that correction.
Underlight Angler Bug #2: Wild felt it necessary to report a nasty bug on the Undercurrent ability. Undercurrent teleports you to the nearest fishing pool. That would be a huge help to locate pools to fish. The ability has been fraught with bugs. Even in Legion, the ability rarely works correctly and attempts to use it create problems, such as sinking the raft, losing fish, and never, ever actually finding a fishing pool. It was known as useless before Legion, and it seems it's only gotten worse. As the centerpiece of the Underlight Angler, the gods of WoW have really made a mess. The best course is to ignore that feature completely.

Oh Dear Me! I thought This was Over
Oh Dear Me! I thought This was Over
Wild now has his Underlight Angler. Wild had this idea that the Underlight Angler artifacts and traits would work the same way everyone else's works. They sort of do and sort of don't.
After some fumbling around, Wild figured out that he could summon the artifact via Shift-Right click. That will display the artifact. Wild recalls that when he got his first look at an artifact, one cell was already in place. Like a nice pat of encouragement. There was no such help with the Angler.
The Angler has artifacts and traits. It is blank, a flat zero. Wild's second revelation is that all that artifact power Wild has at his disposal is useless to the Angler. The Angler doesn't use it.
What does the Angler use? You might have guessed that it is powered by fish. Correct. But not just any fish. The Angler must have RARE fish. In order to gain AP for the Angler, the process is to catch a rare fish and then throw it into the fountain with the twirling ball overhead in Dalaran.
Wild had a moment of reflection. Is this even worth the effort? Yes, Wild decided with a deep growl of stubborness. Wild will get those fish. He isn't going to give up. After all this time Wild will work this until that fishing pole shines and does something actually worthwhile.
Keya was watching. And smiling. "Got to hand it to ya, Wild, you don't give up easily. I have a confession to make. I never finished my Angler. My fishing artifact is incomplete. I quit working on it the minute I realized it wouldn't help me kill things. Keep playing with your toy. I'm interested in how this turns out. If it ever does amount to anything."
